Understanding Breakthrough Bleeding & Birth Control Pills

Question
HI - I'm currently on Ocella BC and I skipped the inactive pills and continued on the active pills. I had break through bleeding, and I then started taking the inactive pills for 2 days. I want to know if there is a purpose in continuing to take the white pills if I already have my period? If I continue taking the white pills, will it prolong my period? If I start taking the active pills will this cut short my period? Are there any advantages/disadvantages of taking either pill, in terms of prolonging this period or shortening the time span until my next period?

Answer
Hello Rebecca,

Thanks for your question. I don't advise anyone to skip the inactive pills. I don't recommend hormonal birth control at all as I feel it is not natural and changes a woman's natural cycle.
I would recommend you ask a doctor all your health questions. But sometimes doctor's don't seem to have the latest research about hormonal birth control methods. If you would like to talk more, just email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and put ALLEXPERTS in the subject line of your email.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
