Mirena Insertion: Possible Side Effects and What to Do
QuestionHello, I've had the mirena placed about a year and a half now and i never had symptoms like ive been having this past month. I'm only 19 and i have a kid already, I want to finish my college before i have another child. Anyways my problems are: I've been feeling very tired, nauseated in the mornings sometimes evenings, and after I eat with bloating! Also tender breasts with some abdomen pain/pressure, Ive been eating more then I normally do. Its all just starting to scare me. Ive taken a home pregnancy test and it came out negative. Also for the first time during intercourse I started bleeding heavily and blood was everywhere, a clot of blood was on my bed. Something is not right! Since ive have the mirena placed i had a very light period every month. For june and july it has been very abnormal. Do you think I am pregnant? If not do you think its best to get the mirena removed?
Thannk you.
AnswerHello Macy,
It's very important for you to find out if you are pregnant. Because if you are, the mirena needs to be removed immediately. If not, I would still recommend that you get it removed. Please read about the side effects and risks and decide for yourself.
You can go to a pregnancy resource center and get a free pregnancy test if you like. Go to http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP to find one in your area. Also, go to http://www.heartbeatservices.org and click on the globe to find a directory of centers.
Please email me at CHERYL51@aol.com and let me know how you are doing.
