Answer
Sarah,

Why do you have to have an abortion? Perhaps there are things we can do to help so you won't have to. If it is lack of income, we can help with that. If it is because you are young and afraid to tell your parents, we can help you with that, too.

Abortion is dangerous. It can end your life. It can leave you severely disabled. It's not worth the risk. Of the possible choices, it is the hardest to live with and the most damaging. Please don't even consider doing it.

Do let us know what your needs are, and whereabouts in the world you live, so we can help you find resources.

Whatever you do, don't act in haste. Find out as much as you can about abortion, how it is done, what it can do to you, what it will do to your baby, about how developed your baby is. You sound like you are in a panic, and people don't make good decisions when they are in a panic. You have time to think it through. Remember, abortion is forever. Your problems are most likely temporary. If you are afraid of how your parents will react, please know that most parents do get upset at first, which they have the right to do, but most parents also become very supporting in the long run. And you can get help telling them. I have one grandson who was born to my unmarried son, and he is precious! I am so grateful to his mother for protecting his life.

I can't tell you whether you must see a specialist or not. You'll need to talk to a doctor about that. Find a doctor who will consider both you and your baby as his patients. He will have the best medical judgment. You need for a doctor to take a medical history and examine you, and make sure what the best course of treatment is for you. One thing to keep in mind is that since you have strep b in your body, it could become active in your reproductive tract if you damage it. Abortion ALWAYS damages it. It has to. Our bodies were designed to protect our babies, so the only way an abortion can be done is to damage our bodies. If you need help finding a doctor, let me know. Stay safe!
