Post-Abortion Period Delay: Is It Normal? - Doctor Answer

Question
Dear Doctor Shan Yi Sheng,
I was pregnant in May, and had a medical abortion in the middle of the month sometime, After that I went back to the doctor a week later and took a pregnancy test which was negative, so the procedure did work. Since then I have not had my period and it is now July 2nd, I dont have any symptoms of being hormonal, or of being pregnant, but it is very unnerving. I do not want to go through that again. I am wondering if it is normal for it to take so long to get your period, or if I should begin birth control pills even though I havent had a period yet.
I dont know which pills to go on because I was experiencing headaches with Marvalon, and Loestrin. I was prescribed Loestrin right after my abortion, but stopped taking it after a week because the headaches came back.
I hope you have all the information you need to answer my question, Thankyou.

Answer
Hi Lynn ,

Something very strange there...!!
The pregtest stays positive until 3-4 weeks after the abortion.
So if the pregtest was negative at the end of May, either that test
was not good, or you were not pregnant al all.
How were you so sure you were pregnant in the first place ?
You were on birth controle, were you ?

There are more reasons why a woman does not have her menstruation  for
a certain period.
You had better started them again immediately after the abortion.
Please answer me so that we can solve the riddle.
