QuestionQUESTION: Hello,
i have asked a question before this about my missing periods after my abortion. Also i told you about my pain on my right side. I consulted my doctor again and this time after two scanning and few blood tests, she confirmed that my body is producing bad eggs, thats why am having all these problems, but i can't understand why it is so? am only 21yr old,LMP was on 14 th feb 2011,went through an abortion, surgical last yr,married. This time also she prescribed me Duphaston. And Folic Acid, Fertab. Why my eggs are bad one? Is this was my reason for abortion? Do i get pregnant again? Do this cause any problem in getting pregnant or in pregnancy?
Hope this time also you'll help me to know about this. am very far away from my family and your replies are so helpful to me,once again thank you
ANSWER: Hello, shan,
It is good to hear from you again, although I wish all were well with you. Your problem with bad eggs could be due to one of a number of different things. Induced abortion disrupts a woman's hormones. If the hormones don't return to normal, then this could cause eggs on one side could be malformed. I don't know if the pain on one side means that you only have a problem on one side, or whether both sides are producing bad eggs. It could also be due to heredity, or an ovary not growing properly while you are very young, or malnutrition. Or it could be due to an infection caused by a sexually transmitted disease or other problem. It wouldn't necessarily be the case that your earlier problem was due to the fact you have bad eggs now. It could have been happenstance. It's hard to know. If you have bad eggs, it may mean that if you get pregnant, the baby won't develop properly. Most likely, this would mean another miscarriage.
I can't really tell you what is going on over the internet, and neither can anyone else. It sounds like your doctor is aware it may be a nutritional problem, since she's giving you folic acid. keep on working with your doctor to find out what the problem is. Duphaston sounds like it would be helpful. Fertab appears to be a fertility drug. Fertility drugs can lead to multiple births. The dosage has to be carefully chosen, and it might still cause multiple births. So I would be a little cautious there. But I'd say continue to let a doctor study your problem and see if she can get to the bottom of the situation. Good luck!

QUESTION: Hello Pat G,
Thank you for wishing me good luck!
i read some articles over internet about bad eggs,it also says that this may lead to miscarriage. What shoulod i do to avoid another miscarriage?Should i ask about this to my doctor? If it is nutritional problem, could it be cured through any food diet or having some extra food or something?
ANSWER: Hello, shan,
You're welcome!
Yes, a bad egg can lead to miscarriage. In fact, it may not develop at all. There's nothing you can do in that case, to avoid the miscarriage. But one of the things I recommend you ask your doctor is whether all your eggs are bad, and if so, how does he know?
As for diet, if you are eating the traditional diet in UAE, then you are eating a basically good diet. If you are eating hamburgers, that's a very different story. It wouldn't be a case of simply eating more food, unless you are greatly underweight. What we call the Mediterranean Diet is also very healthy. This is fruits and vegetables, meats and fish, olive oil, some starch, and the like. Certainly eating things like tabbouleh, falafel, hummus or baba ganouj would be healthful. Herbs and spices are good. Milk and eggs are also healthy, especially if you can get fresh goat or camel milk. Dates and olives are also good. If you are eating poorly, we can go into detail.
I have a close relative who tried very hard to have a child. She even went to some rather extraordinary lengths with no success at all. And she also had two miscarriages. But finally, she had a successful pregnancy. So even though you had a miscarriage, that doesn't really have anything to do with whether you can have a successful pregnancy next time. I would tend to discourage Fertab simply because it is harder on mother and babies if you have a multiple birth. Try to stay away from all drugs. Vitamins are a good idea.
Take care. Feel free to discuss this further.

AnswerHello, shan,
You're welcome.
Are you eating any meat or eggs or cheese? If not, then you are suffering from malnutrition, because there are some vital nutrients you can't get anyplace else. I'm not familiar with the cuisine of various regions of India, but the food I am familiar with is all overcooked (but I like it anyway and eat it often myself). This destroys nutrients. This could also contribute to an overweight problem. So could a vegan diet. And a vegan diet can cause problems with the hormones necessary for successful pregnancy, which could also affect the development of the eggs. Obviously, some vegans are able to get pregnant and have children anyway, but this doesn't mean everyone can. I would say that you are a little overweight, but not obese. It shouldn't really have an effect on your eggs. I think the main thing you need to look at is whether or not the food you are eating is overcooked. If you make sure that you don't overcook your food, this should help, and should also help with the weight problem, because overcooked vegetables really become more like starch. The spices in Indian cooking are excellent for your health.
Good luck. I hope you are pregnant with a healthy child soon. Take care.
