Pregnancy After Medical Abortion: What to Do?
QuestionHello,
I had a medical abortion the beginning of June. After I was cleared by the doctor, I started on birth control using the Nuva Ring. I had sex with my boyfriend almost 1 month to the day that I had my medical abortion and may have been too early for the Ring to 'do it's work'. I took the ring out after 3 weeks and did not have my period. I took a home pregnancy test and indicated I may be pregnant again. However, the pregnancy results were not as clear as the instructions indicated. Could this be the result of residual pregnancy hormones still in my body from my abortion? Also, how likely is it to become pregnant within 4 weeks of having my medical abortion?
AnswerCheryl,
It is possible to be pregnant after a medical abortion. Have you verified the pregnancy test again? If you would like a FREE test at a local pregnancy center, you can find one in your area at this website http://www.optionline.org or http://www.heartbeatservices.org and click on the worldwide directory. What will you do if you are pregnant again? Let me know. You can email me at CHERYL51@aol.com
Oh, and I was just wondering if you could clarify why you took the ring out. Thanks.
Hope to hear from you soon.
