Toenail Fungus & Pedicures: Risks and Treatment
QuestionCan I get a pedicure if I have toenail fungus.
Thanks
AnswerHi Eileen! I'm sorry, no you cannot. It is highly contagious, and easier to transfer from one person to another through pedicures, because bacteria can harbor in warm places easier. There are some careless technicians that will do it. You need to go see a doctor, preferably a dermatologist. There are ways to get rid of your fungus. It may take time, to find the right product or medication. A good way to tell if a product or medication is working is if your nails start to grow out normal. Its not going to one day be there and the next be gone. It takes time, and you have to keep treating it until the fungus has completely grown out or it could come back. It can also come back other ways as well Eileen, so I have found a site for you to check out other ways of keeping fungus out of your life: http://www.aocd.org/skin/dermatologic_diseases/fungus_preventing.html
I hope this helps and good luck!
