Acrylic Nail Bubbles: Are They a Problem?

Question
Hi
I just acrylic nails done for the first time.  Two tone french and i love the shape.  However, the "clear" - pinky part has lots, although quite small, bubbles throughout the acrylic.
I went back to ask about it and was told it was totally normal and it was just because my hands and the acrylic were different temperatures - well duh the room was like 20C and I'm 37C.  They just told me that if you don't look too closely they look fine and not to worry.  However I paid $70 for these nails.  I didn't get them because I wanted to entire world to see them, I got them for myself and looking down at them it looks like I've got chalk dust on the nail surface.
I understand that bubbles are possible.  But having up to 20% of the clear acrylic filled with air doesn't seem right.
Should I try to persue this?  Am I being unreasonable?
Help please.
Chrystal

Answer
Dear Chrystal,

THEY are being unreasonable. NOT you. They charged the price of an experienced and thoroughly trained technician, and it was likely a newly trained technician that worked on your nails.  That is just plain WRONG and unethical of them!

Air bubbles are a result of 'working' the acrylic too much, and poor technique.  If there IS as much as 20% filled with airbubbles, then follow up and seek out the owner of the salon/spa and ask them to correct them with a soak-off and a re-do.  1 or 2 bubbles can happen. BUT 20%??  That's simply an inexperienced technician AND NOT YOUR FAULT.

It's very typical of inexperienced technicians OR poor quality salons (NSS) to lay the blame on the client rather than take it themselves.
Please see this page on my site to be sure that you didn't visit an NSS as well (Non Standard Salon).
