Preventing Acrylic Nail Crystallization: Causes & Solutions

Question
How do you stop acyrilic nails when applying them to stop crystalising, I closed all the doors stuck the heating on to a normal temperature, I then filed the acrylic down again and tried again trying to cover the nail whilst the acyrilic was drying, but no good, it doesnt happen that often, but some days its really noticable on the clients nails, it just looks awful.

Answer
hi catherine
some products are more sensitive to temperature and atmosphere than others.
if you are refering to a sugary coating on the top surface, this is more likely to be "frosting" rather than crystaling.
it happens when a draught or cool air in general flows over the surface of the product as it is drying.
this causes the liquid to evaporate from the mix too quickly, leaving a bunch of powder molecules sitting on their own!
even if you cant feel a draught, your liquid may have gone below its optimum temperature, which slows down the setting time, which can sometimes cause frosting.
never leave your liquid inthe bot of the car in cool/cold weather.
if your work area gets cold overnight, you will need to bring it back to room temperature.
the only safe way to do this is to put the bottle in a plastic bag and while you are sitting down, place the bottle between your legs!
this will warm up the liquid safely, it will usually take about 15 mins.
also, when you are applying your product, work with a lamp as close to your brush as you can and the small amout of heat that it produces will help the product to set without frosting.

hope all this helps
