QuestionHello!
I am 27 years old have 2 children, a husband and have recently undergone some stressful life changes in regards to careers and home.
I have noticed more wrinkling over the last year and I believe this is permanent. All of the women in our family have bad wrinkles and get severe stretch marks during pregnancy... This is not something I foresee being able to avoid. I would appreciate a really good recommendation on a night time regamine to help reduce the appearance and increased amount of wrinkling on the skin. Right now I have developed light forehead wrinkling and slightly more severe crows feat.
More recently (within the last 2 weeks) We have undergone a move and some other misc changes and I have noticed dark circles (which I don't believe I have ever had) and wrinkling right under the eye along with the circles. The skin seems loose and old if that makes sense, all of a sudden. I am assuming this is due to stress and lack of proper sleep. I have been trying to drink only water (accept for my oh so precious cup o' joe in the morning) however, it doesn't seem to be improving. I feel like my face aged 10 years in a weeks time. Do you have any good recommendations (either products or home remedies) that will help hopefully speed the process of reversing this problem?
Thank you so much in advance! :o)
AnswerDear Alicia~
I hear your frustration! It's never too late to turn back the clock on aging. You can reverse the signs of aging in many cases. Here is a general skin care routine I recommend for anyone wanting to look more youthful...
AM: Apply Daytime moisturizer with at least an SPF of 15 and an under eye cream.
PM: Cleanse, tone, apply anti-aging serum, under eye cream, then night cream after serum is absorbed.
There's no need to cleanse your skin again in the a.m. unless you are oily or acne-prone (obviously, not the case).
Be sure you exfoliate your skin every other day with a cleanser that gently exofliates. On alternate days just use a soap-free gentle cleanser. Exfoliation reveals new brighter skin as it sloughs off dead skin cells and assists with cell turnover.
Also....
1) Drink 8 eight ounce glasses of water daily to help keep your skin clear and hydrated.
2) Avoid sugar as much as possible. It's an inflammatory and it's aging!
3) Never skip sunscreen (even when it's cloudy) and wear a sun visor whenever possible.
4) Get 7-8 hours of sleep a night and take a nap whenever possible. Rest is excellent for the skin.
The most effective anti-aging ingredient is Retinol. Try to use a night serum that contains it. Roc Deep Wrinkle Serum is an excellent choice. As for which other products to recommend....there are so many I don't know where to begin. But, I do recommend Paula Begoun's book: Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter without Me" to guide you. More expensive does not necessarily mean better quality.
For dark circles, I recommend an under eye treatment product that also brightens the skin, such as Garnier Anti Dark-Circle Eye Roller. You can pick it up at any drugstore or Walmart.
Best wishes, Alicia...moisturizing your skin day and night and drinking plenty of water will bring a glow back to your skin. You'll be amazed!
