QuestionHello,
I have some sort of skin condition where certain spots on my stomach don't tan (I have an appointment with a dermatologist this summer) but in the meantime I am going on a vacation to Turks and Cacos. I am considering the idea of getting a spray tan to cover up my white spots but I am unsure how a spray tan will affect any real tan I may get while on vacation. As well, will the spots still come through as I begin to get a real tan, defeating the whole purpose of my spray tan? Would you recommend spray tanning prior to going on vacation or would you encourage the use of tanning booths?
Thank you for any advice/information you may have on this subject!
AnswerDear Meaghan~
Congrats on the opportunity to take a trip to this most beautiful part of the world! It's high on my own list to visit.
I am totally against tanning beds (think of it as microwaving yourself, which it basically is). I don't know what your skin condition is, so I don't know if a spray tan will cover it up or not. It sure seems worth a try. I could suggest you talk to the people who make your spray tan product, but unless they know the condition of your skin that is causing the white spots, they would be at a loss as well.
The only thing I can suggest is:
1) Try to move up that appointment with the dermatologist to this week, so you can discuss this with him/her and get to the bottom of why these white patches exist.
2) Find a knock-out one-piece swim suit to wear as a back-up, so these white spots don't have the power to ruin your vacation!
Good luck, Meaghan. Have a wonderful trip!
Best,
