AnswerHi there Nasreen, congratulations on your new exciting job!
The main difference with TV make-up is that it needs to be much less subtle. More is definitely more in this case!
Start with a good base. One of the flawless range of foundations perhaps which are thick but completely cover over any blemish or colour difference in the skin. Don't be afraid to use a lot more than you'd usually do.
Next you need a good blusher that matches your own skin tones. If you're not sure what they are, gently pinch your cheeks with your fingers and look at what colour your cheeks turn - obviously not too hard or they will be red.
You mention that you feel you have quite thin lips so you may need to boost them up a bit. Apart from the injectible lip plumper's, there are fast-fixes that you can buy in the shape of lipsticks or gloss that contain a substance that gently irritates the lips, making them slightly swell. Build on this effect with lip liner and a deep rich lipstick that compliments your eye colour. Use a lip-liner a couple of shades darker than the lipstick you choose.
You are so lucky to have big beautiful eyes so capitalise on those. Perhaps use either a false lash mascara or even go all the way and use actual false lashes.
Use eyeliner top and bottom, just along the line of the lashes, to open up the eye even more. Choose a dark colour black or dark brown and then gently smudge around the edges with your fingers to make it slightly less stark.
Use 2 different eye shadows. Start with the darker shade at the bottom and use the lighter highlighting shadow at the upper edge, near the bone under your eyebrow. Gently smudge the line where they meet to offer a more smoky effect.
Finally make sure you have huge quantities of translucent face powder to hand because studio lights always make the face shine. You'll need to keep reapplying the powder through out the broadcast so keep it and the lipstick ready for touching up.
I hope that helps and the very best of luck.
Take care, Claire
