Understanding Your Mammogram: Interpreting Results & Next Steps
Questioni received a mamo report which requested additional screenings because there is a 2.2 cm mass within the upper outer quandrant left breast ( i don't feel a thing, can you tell me exactly where this is located on the breast?) Last mammo was 12/11/07, new screen was 1/15/09. Ultrasound is required. There is a asymetric density within the lateral right breast seen best on CC projection. Advise spot compression right cc and exaggerated right CC for further evaluation.
What does this mean? Can you advise. I had an incident similar 4 years ago and it turned out to be nothing..
AnswerYes it may be nothing but we do not KNOW that yet! It may also be something - yet unknown! It is in the upper left part of your left breast. If the new pictures and the ultrasound scan can not tell what it is I do suggest a needle biopsy (stereotactic or ultrasound or MRI guided)in order to KNOW what it is. MRI breast scans should also be done. Good luck!
