Headed to brunch with your girls? You have got the best stilettos matched perfectly with your outfit, accessories and makeup and hairstyle, but still you are looking to rock a chic and colourful manicure! Don’t worry when we are around.
Stained glass nail art or Graphic nail art became a rage in the fashion world. One of my favourite nail designs to search and imitate, I always felt this to be a bit too complicated to create at home. Well, not until a few days back. If you can color your drawing books inside a line, then you can easily pull this off!
So, grab your white polish which will create a neutral base, colourful nail paints for your patchwork patterns, transparent polish, and a toothpick and striping tape and create this design that is seriously easy.
Read ahead and wow your friends with this simple stained glass nail pattern.
To recreate this look, first prep your nails by moisturising and buffing them square. Next, apply a thin base coat, like Essie Ridge Filling Base Coat. Now if you want, you can paint your nails with a base colour. I have applied shimmer white base coat from Sinful Twinkling Star Nail Polish. Then with black polish draw the lines and patterns that you want to color later on (my lines are a bit uneven because of my black polish is almost dry, got to buy another one.)
Now on a palette put one – two drops of nail polish and with the blunt end of the toothpick fill in the spaces of the uneven patterns, some will get mixed at the sides, but you can leave it like that.
Now redraw the lines that you drew previously to make the designs distinct and perfect. Seal off with a transparent top coat and you’re done.
You can keep it simple with big coloring spaces like above or make more demarcations like below; I’ve added 1 extra demarcation on the 4 fingers, not the thumb though.
Once done, use a cotton swab dipped in acetone to clean the colour off your fingers. I have used ULTA Maximum Strength 100% Pure Acetone Nail Polish.
Finish the manicure with a couple of applications of a very thick clear top coat until the edges are sealed and the nail is smooth to the touch. I have used, Umbrella Oxygen Raincoat Top Coat as it has a UV filter too – perfect for my nails while I’m hitting a beach or going out for a lunch
Tips: To remove the nail art, soak your nails in acetone for about 10-15 seconds.
So, here you have the girly stained glass nail print in its final form.
