Water Marbling Nail Art: A Step-by-Step Tutorial with Dark Colors
While earlier most girls were crazy about wearing different nail colours in trendy shades, the latest fad in the nail fashion world is nail art. With college going girls to young adults to more mature women, almost everyone is showing off their nail art in different styles and colours.
Water marbling is a technique in which nail polish drops are dropped into filtered water to create a particular pattern. This pattern is then transferred onto your nails. And the end result is a gorgeous example of nail art.
Marbled effect is of two types:
- Dry marbling.
- Water marbling.
Today we will be discussing about Water marbling.
Things You Will Need:
- A glass of filtered water.
- Two to three nail enamels (for this tutorial I am using Orly Lollipop as a base coat and Maybelline colorama black and sexy nail paint for the water marbling effect. You can use any other similar product from a brand of your choice.)
- Orangewood stick.
- Cello tape
- Acetone and some Q-tips
- A topcoat and basecoat of your choice

How to do Water Marbling: Read the following Nail Art Tutorial to know how you can easily create this gorgeous nail art at home
Step 1:
- Before you start doing anything else, the first step is to prepare your nails
- Apply a basecoat and let it dry
- Then apply a base colour.
- After your base color has properly dried up, tape your fingers as shown in the picture below:
Step 2:
- Now take a glass of water
- Make sure it is filled a little lower than the rim
- Do this carefully, as is shown in the picture below.
Step 3:
- Drop your nail polish drops alternately into the water
- See the picture below carefully to see how it is done
Step 4:
- Drag your orange wood stick with a light hand to create a pattern
- Again, see the picture carefully
- Make sure you do this with a light hand and do not exert too much pressure
Step 5:
- Now dip your finger into the glass
- Remove the excess product using the orange wood stick.
Step 6:
- Now repeat the above steps for creating patterns on all of your fingers
- Once you have worked on all of your fingers, you will get the following result. Even it is not exactly the same you should be getting something similar on your fingers.
- It does look a bit messy in the beginning, but with patience and practice, you will soon be able to master this technique with ease.
Step 7:
- Finally remove your cello tapes from all the fingers
- Clean the remaining polish from your cuticles with the help of Q-tips
- Make sure that you first dip these Q-tips in acetone.
Step 8:
- Apply a layer of top coat on the nails
- This will help seal in your new designs on the nails
