Elegant Antique Rose Nail Art: A Simple Freehand Tutorial

The right combination of metallic colours always brings out the best in any kind of art or drawing. The case is similar when a nail art is considered. Here I have chosen a very simple but very precise free hand nail art design. The best thing about the use of golden or silver colours as bases is that they create an antique look which is just stunning.

The design is very simple but you have to keep in mind that your nail art brush is very thin. You have to be good with drawing because your nails are your canvas. Let your imagination run wild and paint out some wild roses and leaves.

Let’s get started with Antique Roses Nail Art:

Things you will need:

  • A base coat (This is a must when you are using acrylic paints on your nails because paints are harmful)
  • A golden Nail Polish
  • A black Acrylic Colour
  • A nail art brush
  • A transparent polish
  • Some mini plastic pearls
  • A toothpick
  • A cotton bud and remover for cleaning traces of stray polish or paints

Stepwise Tutorial:

Step 1:

After painting your nails with at least 2 coats of a nice base coat, apply the golden polish in double coating as shown below. The more metallic the shade, the better.

Step 2:

Take the nail art brush and start you job on your nails. It’s best to practice drawing a small tiny rose on a piece of paper first. Crescent curves – with each curve touching the adjacent curve is an easy way to draw a full bloom rose. Follow the pictures.

Step 3:

Leaves are very easy to draw, keep the shape in mind and swipe your brush across.

Drawing Leaves:

Step 4:

You can draw any types of roses or leaves.

A. The Thumb

B. First finger

C. Middle Finger

D. Third Finger

E. Tiny finger

Step 5:

Apply a nice layer of top coat and flaunt it. It should look something like below.

Step 6:

If you have and want to use mini plastic pearls, the follow this procedure:

After finishing the drawing, take a toothpick and put dollops of transparent polish on the centre of the roses. Next dip the pointed end of the toothpick into transparent polish and carefully pick a single pearl at a time and stick them onto the dollops of clear polish.

Step 7:

Put a thick layer of transparent top coat to seal in your newly created design to make the pearls hold firm and last long. Re-application of transparent top coat every 2-3 days will keep your nail art and the pearls stay in place for at least a week.

Here is the final look.
