If you are using a base coat, then use 2 coats of base coat on to the nails before starting this design. Now after the base coat has dried up, use 2 coats of skin color nail polish like Victoria by tips and toes or a similar color. You can also use white nail polish. This is just to make the base more opaque. Let it dry completely before moving on to step 2.
Now apply pink nail polish leaving the tips for all the fingers except the ring finger. Use dark green polish of 2 coats to cover the ring finger totally.
Use dark green nail polish for the tips that you have left out. Do this with steady hands and try to make the curvature as neat as possible.
Take your nail art brush and take some light green acrylic paint on it. Use the color on to the curvature of the dark green polish in a broad way. Keep the curvature as clean and neat as possible. Do this with steady hands. Give some zigzag lines on to the green nail polish of the ring finger. Here you don’t need to be absolutely perfect with the vertical zigzag lines. Use some white polish too if you feel like, following the zigzag line.
Time for black polish. Take your nail art brush. Clean it properly if it has color. Now use it to take black nail polish. Give some upside down water droplet patterns on to the pink part of the nails. You don’t need to be absolutely perfect but try to keep the dots a bit oval at the top and pointed at the bottom. This will become the seeds of the melon. Use the nail art brush to drag some zigzag lines on to the green polish of ring finger.
Your water melon nail art is now complete and wait for 2 nice layers of transparent polish to seal in the design. Apply the transparent polish and sport this beautiful nail art.
