Effortless Brown Smokey Eye Tutorial: A Step-by-Step Guide

It is winter, and the perfect time to flaunt some smokey eyes (although this is one look you can flaunt at any season and for any occasion). While the most popular and the ‘original’ look that was created first for the smokey eye was done in black, there are various twists these days that are made to this version. Different colours are being brought in and various colour schemes tried out. The look that we will try out today will also be different from the black smokey eye look.

Before learning about this smokey eye tutorial, it is important to remember that the simpler the look, the more easily it is messed up, so please be careful while using the colours. Also, remember to use soft hands as you apply the makeup, as rubbing too hard on the colours can smudge up and mess the entire look.

Today we will be doing a brown smokey eye tutorial to get a different look.

Smokey Eye Makeup for Brown Eyes

I have used these products for eye makeup for brown eyes:

  • A concealer of your choice
  • Dark brown and copper eye shadows – you need to make sure the two colours complement each other and are not complete contrasts
  • A black eye liner pencil of your choice
  • A highlighter – in case you do not have one, you can always use the lightest shade in your eye shadow palette
  • Your choice of mascara

Stepwise Tutorial:

Step 1:

  • Use a concealer under the eyes to conceal any dark circles. Also use it around the eye area to conceal any pigmentation or dark patches. Make sure the concealer shade suits your skin tone.
  • Use a lighter concealer for the brow bone area. This will help contour and highlight the brow.
  • Now apply a primer to your lids all the way to the brow bone. This will ensure that the colour stays on for long. Also, it will help build up the colour and will pop it up.

Step 2:

  • Apply a dark brown base color on the outer 2/3rd of your eyelid.
  • To go over again, use either a dark brown or black to darken the outer V.

Step 3:

  • Apply a copper tone to the center of the lid as shown above.
  • Draw on your lash line with a black eyeliner pencil and smudge gently into the brown.

Step 4:

Use a fluffy crease brush with no shadow to blend the harsh edges of the eye shadow. Blending is always a crucial step in makeup, so make sure you do it properly.

Highlight the inner corners of the eyes and the brow bone with a light nude eye shadow.

Step 5:

  • Use the dark brown shadow on the lower lash line.
  • Darken your water line and tight line with a black pencil.
  • Curl your lashes with a generous amount of mascara.

Once you have finished the makeup, dust off any makeup excess or debris that may have fallen under your eye area. The finished look will give your eyes a soft, smokey and sophisticated look.

We are sure you will love this version of the smokey eye. Do try it out and let us know how the final result was.
