Materials Required:

First, you need the right materials:

  • For prep – Moisturizer, primer, concealer and foundation
  • Liquid, gel or pencil eyeliner
  • Eye shadows in pink, black and gold
  • Good brush for blending
  • Curler
  • Mascara

Step 1:

To avoid the wintry dryness, begin with preparing your eyes with a moisturizer. Use Clinique Moisture Surge Extra Refreshing Eye Gel on your lids as it gives a long lasting look. Once done, apply a primer, concealer and foundation. I have used the 3 in 1 with inbuilt concealer ModelCo Fluid Splash 3 in 1 Foundation. You can also apply a pressed powder on your entire eyelid, we recommendFACES Sheer Radiance Pressed Powder, this will help you avoid unnecessary creases in eye shadow.

Next, work your way to the eye shadow. Use a medium to dark shade of peachy pink, apply it to exactly half of eyelid and avoid entering the crease section. I have used NARS Bouthan Duo Eyeshadow Soft pink tulle and bright pink.

Step 2:

Now, for the charcoal effect, use a classic black shade, like L’Oreal Paris Superliner Blackbuster Eyeliner. Yes, you can use an eye pencil instead of an eye shadow. For a clean look, I rimmed my lower lashes first followed by my upper lashes, start from the inner corner and extent it to the outer corner. Extend it into a small tail and smudge it nicely to get a similar look. Use a good brush to blend the colours well, I prefer the Hourglass Crease Brush, this helps my eye shadow appear smudgier. For women who don’t own a brush can substitute it with their index finger.

Step 3:

Once you’ve blended both the colours, it’s time for you to make the look more defined with a sexy winged eye lining extending nicely towards the upper tail (optional). Use a kohl or black pencil liner on the upper rim; make an extension to meet the extended shadow tail just a little for a perfect wide-eyed, ’60s effect.

Step 4:

After blending in the colour you can go different with the third colour. I have layered with a subtle golden hue on my brow bones, allowing it to work as a highlighter for my smokey look.

Step 5:

For the final touch, you can use fake lashes like the ModelCo Fibre Lash Brush on False Lashes followed by wriggling your lashes with multiple coats of mascara.

A note to remember – and apply as much as mascara as you can, because to create perfect smokey eyes nothing is more! Just hold the mirror, look down and start by wriggling your  bottom lash first; once done, roll it upwards to capture each lash now repeat the same procedure onto your upper lash.

Ensure you start it with your roots and follow it towards the tip of your lashes. You can repeat the procedure again byapplying in different directions, which, by the way, is a good technique for avoiding clumps. You can get yourself a fan brush to get a more natural look.
