What does a woman want?
To carry her on your laps and lock your tongue in her’s till she
swoons to the Happy Valley;
to look into her eyes and sing like a nightingale: “I’ll love
you till the heavens are no more”;
to listen and listen when she speaks and reply as if a Delphic
oracle: “I understand, I understand”;
to give her a bouquet of Queen of the night and say to her:
“You’re the loveliest flower in Eden”;
to pat her hair swearing she’s beautiful in mid winter and
smiles as the seraphs;
to carry the shopping basket after her and open her the door
lest she hurt her delicate fingers;
to hold her in parts forbidden to mention and make her feel like
a woman in the darkness of your bedroom;
to rest her head upon your shoulder and let her weep in baby
manner as you caress her back and sing her a lullaby;
these are what a woman wants!
