Ortho Evra Patch: Risks, Side Effects & Warnings - A Comprehensive Overview

Ortho Evra Patch

On November 10, 2005 the manufacturers of the Ortho Evra Patch
warned millions of of American women that the Ortho Evra Patch
exposes them to over 60% more hormones (estrogen) than other
propular forms of birth-control. In addition, they recognized that the
Ortho Evra Patch may put users at a greater risk for developing a blood
clot or other serious side effect.

Ortho Evra Patch Side Effects

* Sudden & Wrongful Death

* Blood Clot

* Heart Attack

* Stroke

* DVT (Deep Venous Thrombosis)

* PE (Pulmonary Embolism)

What Causes Ortho Evra Side Effects?

The Ortho Evra Patch has been linked to an increased risk of DVT
(Deep Venous Thrombosis) and PE (Pulmonary Embolism). These two
Ortho Evra Patch side effects can lead to stroke, hemorrhage, heart
attack and even death.

Evidence shows that the risk of blood clots and stroke associated with
the Ortho Evra Patch is significantly higher than with oral contraceptive
pills. The incidence of embolisms and thrombotic injuries in phase III
trials of the Ortho Evra Patch was six (6) times greater than the
incidence of such events in oral contraceptives using the hormone
levonorgestrel.

Known Facts and Ortho Evra Side Effects

A Blood clot is a known risk of using hormonal birth control because
estrogen promotes blood coagulation. Unfortunately, the FDA knew long
before the Ortho Evra Patch’s introduction to the market that the
incidence of nonfatal blood clots was three (3) times higher with the
Ortho Evra Patch than with “the pill”. A Blood clot will typically form in
one of the legs and can eventually cause serious injury and/or death if
they travel to the heart, lungs or brain.
