QuestionI Have been on birth control on and off since i was 15 and have been on them again for a little under a year now and for the past 3 months i have had some "leakage" from my breasts for about a week after every period. I am on a 21 day pack and it typically starts when my period is ending and i am starting a new pack. Its clear so my doctor said not to worry about it but is this a typical side effect? I never noticed it before when i have been on the pill in the past. I haven't had any other side effects on this pill in fact it is the best i have felt on the pill ever just this one problem. Any suggestions?
AnswerHi Dawn,
I don't think I have heard of this being a side effect of the birth control pills. Did you change kind or brands of birth control pills?
I'm a little surprised that you have not had side effects from the pills. Most women complain about some sort of side effect. In fact, that's one of the reasons I don't recommend hormonal birth control.
As well as side effects experienced by women, there are also long-term risks that women could experience.
Problems with blood clots (thrombophlebitis or cerbrovascular accidents)
Heart disease
Cancer of the breast or reproductive tract
Liver problems or cancer
Kidney disease
High blood pressure
Diabetes
Active gallbladder disease
Congenital hyperbilirubinemia (Gilbert's disease)
