Authentic Indian Milk Tea Recipe: 4 Easy Steps

1. Hot Milk Tea:

Ingredients:
- 4 to 6 ounces of water
- 2 tablespoons of tea leaves
- 4 ounces of whole milk or 2% milk
- 1 or 2 tablespoons of sugar or honey
Steps:
- Boil water in a pan and add the tea leaves to it. Let it boil for a minute or so.
- Now take a small piece of freshly chopped ginger, some cardamom and add it to the boiling water.
- Stir and simmer for a minute.
- On the other hand, get hold of a cup and add a bit of the condensed milk to it.
- Pour the hot black tea into it and stir a bit with the help of a spoon.
- You could crush the cardamom before adding. This will make your tea smell real good.
- Repeat the same for the rest of the cups. Be careful with the quantity.
- And voila! You just finished making some piping hot Indian “chai”!
2. Iced Milk Tea:
Beat the heat this summer with some refreshing and flavoursome iced milk tea! This drink is popular all over the country and a favourite among children. If you have young ones at home you would like to impress, make some iced tea!
Ingredients:
- Two bags of tea
- 6 ounces of water
- 4 ounces of condensed milk
- 6 ounces of ice
Steps:
- Boil the water on a stove. If you are using a kettle, wait for it to whistle. Heating water shouldn’t be longer than one to two minutes.
- Now take your tea bags and place them in their respective cups. Please don’t place more than one tea bag in one cup.
- Pour boiling water into the cups and let it steep for a minute.
- Now add some condensed milk. If your condensed milk is sweet, don’t add sugar.
- Now take another glass and fill it with ice. Add a couple of crushed ice cubes to it. Make sure the glass is 3/4thfull. Too little and too less won’t do.
- Pour it into the glass and you are done!
3. Apple Milk Tea:

Ingredients:
- 350 ml of water
- 150 ml of black tea
- One apple
Steps:
- Once you have done preparing the black tea, you can get on with the preparation.
- Now mix the black tea with milk tea.
- Chop the apple into 5 pieces, add it to a blender and wait till it turns slurry.
- Pour the milk tea into the blender as well.
- Now add crushed ice to add some flavour to it.
- Pour apple milk tea into a big glass and enjoy till it lasts.
4. Royal Milk Tea:
The royal milk tea tastes absolutely wonderful. Originating in the beautiful state of Assam and often taken with snacks in Darjeeling, this drink is something you should definitely try during the winter months!
Ingredients:
- 3/4th cups of water
- 2 tablespoons of Darjeeling or Assam tea leaves
- Half a cup of milk
- Sugar or honey
Steps:
- In a small saucepan, add water and boil for a minute.
- When you see the water boiling, add some tea leaves and then reduce the heat. Let it simmer for a minute or so.
- Now add milk and stir with a spoon.
- When you see the tea boiling, reduce the heat and gently remove the flame.
- Now use a strainer to remove the tea leaves.
- Pour into a tea cup and serve hot!
