Daily Calorie Needs for Weight Maintenance: A Guide for a 5ft, 100lb Individual

Hi there!
I am exactly 5ft and weigh 100lbs. What is the required caloric intake for a person my size (who does not exercise - aside from walking the dog), to maintain my current weight? Do you have any suggestions of what I should be eating (ie: schedule/high nutritious foods)?

hi Melissa,
you would need about 1700 cal/day to maintain your current weight.   Make sure you have plenty of lean protein and vegetables at every meal.  Eat complex carbs mainly (oatmeal, ww pasta, brown rice, bulgar, legumes), and minimal sugars.  Go to www.oxygenmag.com for really good tips and you can even make up your own diet.  This site is dedicated to female fitness--you will love it!
