QuestionAre sardines healthier in olive oil or water and what about the mercury content
of sardines. I know you should not eat more then 2 3oz. cans of tuna a week
because of the mercury content but does this hold true fro sardines to?
AnswerHi
Olive oil slightly swings it, but water is still pretty healthy.
Sardines are not such a concern regarding mercury content because they are smaller fish. Large fish such as tuna and swordfish which are higher up the food chain and can be longer living, have higher levels of mercury than smaller, younger fish.
