QuestionOkay, so I'm a 16 year old teen girl and five feet and four inches tall. I weigh 108-110. I used to weigh around 130 and lost it the weight eating about 1000 calories a day. i have had it off for about half a year but havent started eating normal again. I'm wondering if I have slowed down my metabolism and if I will gain weight if I increase my calories. Also, about how many should I be eating? I'm pretty active and a varsity cheerleader. Thank you!

Hi Lindsey,
Thanks for trusting us to answer your questions. And let me give you my thoughts on the matter.
First of all looking at your age, weight and length, it looks like the are in perfect balance.
I have been training for most of my life and have always been fascinated by what food does to our bodies and energy level. Although I believe it is very important that we look at what we take in, I am not to worried about the amount of calories at all.
When we eat the right foods, leave out the junk food/drinks (and sugar) as much as possible and drink plenty of water and exercise - there is nothing to worry about. I don't know what your food/drink intake is right now, but let me give you a few guidelines.
- 70% of your diet should exist out of water content, live foods (such as vegetables and fruits)
- Eat/drink plenty of greens
- Make sure you get your vitamins and minerals
- Drink a minimum of 2 liters of water a day
- On top of that, please don't forget your regular cardiovascular workout for a minimum of 15min.
These are just e a few easy ways, that will keep the fat of, the energy up and keep you looking fresh and young. Very easy to make a habit and a way of life and people will start asking you what it is that you do to look that good, energetic and vibrant.
I hope this helped and if there is anything else you want to know, please do not hesitate to ask.
Best wishes,
