QuestionGood morning have purchased several 14k CZ rings with the goal of replacing the center stones. other simulant. The center stones are round or princess cut stones, prong set. The settings have good gold weight.
How much would it cost me to to have the center CZ stones replaced with the my stones. I believe I have purchased the correct millimeter sizes, e.g., 8mm, etc.
One stone I want to use in particular is a simulated color change stone called zandrite. It is about a 5 on the Mohs scale. Will this be a problem.
Are there jewelers I can use that will reset multiple rings at a discount? In any event, how much do you think it would cost me to have the center CZ removed and replaced with my gemstones.
I have no jewelry making experience, however, is this process simple enough for me to learn.
AnswerGood question, most jewelers will be willing to set stones for you.Cost is a craps shoot, though. It could range from 10.00 per stone, for a local small town jeweler,to 50.00 if the store has an attitude about setting your stone in your ring.If you want to attempt setting your self,I do not recommend unless broken stones are the goal.I have been setting stones for 20 years and still break one now and then.
Hope that helps
