Decoding Jewelry Markings: Understanding the 14K Symbol

hi I have some diamond cufflinks that have 14k marked on them inbetween the 14 and the k is a symbol that looks like a swamp boat with the fan blade pointed up instead of back. do you happen to know what that symbol means?
