Repurposing Heirloom Wedding Rings: Maximizing Their Value
QuestionMy future Mother-in-law donated 4 wedding rings that she inherited. My boyfriend and I are wanted to originally use her mothers stones from a ring appraised at around $4,525, however we decided on a different cut. I went to two local jewelry stores, both said they did not trade in old rings for credits. Plus, both locations did not have a Gemologist on hand. What should I do to get the most out of these family jewels? We are just hoping to use them to invest in our own wedding rings. Can I re-cut them? Do I really have to sell them pon shops!?!? Any advice would help and thank you for your time.
AnswerHi Sara. Dont Recut them. Trading them is the best Idea. I would be willing to figure out a fair trade or make a fair trade for you if your interested. I would need to see the diamonds you have. I can meet with you in either my office in New York City or Boston.
Sincerely,
