QuestionMy friend's boyfriend asked her to start taking birth control and I've been thinking of taking it long before her. But we live in a tiny town of like under 500. We have a clinic to get what we need, but because of school, not one of us have a job. So we cant get them ourselves. And, because of that, we have to let our parents in on it. We dont want them to think we're having sex or anything, and I know it clams the flow of your period. We explained that to our parents already and they said no. It would be good to take birth control just in case, so i was wondering, me and my friend both, how can we ask our parents if we can take the Pill?

But it is great that you want to be safe! First of all, talk to your boyfriends. Ask them why they want you on birth control, and if it is really needed. If it is, then is there any way you can go to the clinic on your own? This is a good option for many girls, even though I'm not encouraging secrecy, it's what I did when I was 17 and was a good way to be safe. You could take your friend with you for support.
But if you do need your parents permission, sit them down and explain to them that you want to go on it. What I don' understand, is why you want to go on it. If you're not having sex, do you really need it? If you plan to have sex in the future, tell them! Explain to them that you are growing up and that it is best that you are safe.
