Repairing Broken Plated Hollowware: Is Soft Soldering Suitable?

I have several pieces of plated holloware that have either broken feet or handles.  Also have a large chafing dish with a broken handle at the metal end of the handle where it used to be attached to the dish.  Can I use a soft soldering technique to have enough strength for normal use?

HI PAUL,

DEPENDING ON THE CONDITION OF THE BREAK AND THE WEAR AND TEAR ON THE PIECE A SOFT SOLDER MAY WORK FOR A WHILE. THE BEST THING TO DO IS REPAIR IT WITH A CASTING OF THE BROKEN PIECE. IF YOU CAN'T DO THAT THEN TRY THE SOFT SOLDER  AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. GOOD LUCK.
