Jewelry Gem & Mineral Identification Guide: A Resource for Designers

Question
I am a jewelry designer and glass artist. I am looking for a good reference book with plenty of color photos to help me name and identify the items available at bead and gem and mineral shows, so when I sell my finished pieces, I can properly label them. Sadly, most dealers at these shows don't seem to know their own merchandise. i.e. they identify a sting of beads as "some kind of Jasper" or, "maybe Aventurine or Chalcedony?" Thank you so much.

Answer
This question got me trying to remember my favorite gem book, but unfortunately I've forgotten the author. After looking on Amazon to see if I'd remember the cover since I remember it being pink. I'm pretty sure my favorite was Simon & Schuster's Guide to Gems and Precious Stones. It had clear pictures of every gem, and information regarding quality and price. The only complaint I had about it was the information was a tiny bit dated, so really new created gems likely won't be included. You asked for color photos, and this book won't disappoint, there's a beautiful picture of every gem being identified.
