QuestionDear Thomas,
This is with reference to our Q&A nearly 1 year ago
(http://en.allexperts.com/q/Jewelry-Gems-Minerals-689/2008/6/Melting-Silver-1.htm)
Currently, I am not having problems with air bubbles in silver as I'm layering the ingot with wooden dust and then pouring silver into it. However, during certain "pours", one or two large air bubbles do appear.
I've read about using moulding clay as an ingot. I did try it, but did not perfect the technique. Would you be able to guide me in getting it right? Once the clay is "stamped" into an ingot shape, the molten silver is poured directly into it. Do I need to mix any other material in the clay?
Awaiting your advice and help.
Best regards,
Stu
AnswerStu, I cannot help with this type of ingot mold. I have used clay which has been formed and perfectly dried, actually baked that will work with experimentation.
I do not have experience with molding clay.
I do wish I could help. Very sorry this is beyond my field of expert knowledge.
Blessing and Peace. Thomas.
