Targeted Exercises for Breast, Stomach & Thigh Firming

Question
QUESTION: whats the best way to get tone up bascilly my breast, stomach and thighs

ANSWER: Hi Tasha,

I would recommend you try out some pilates, yoga or a legs/bums/tums type workout to really emphasise those particular areas.

Some other exercises you could carry out at home would be squats, lunges, a small movement crunch (not a full sit-up) and the plank - to hold the stomach in!!

Constantly checking your posture during the day can also help with this.

As for the breasts, well...  Push ups, chest press, flyes - they will all build up the muscle under the 'breast' area, but fat will fall off the whole body rather than just one area and this is the one place it will tend to come off first.  It depends as to how you want to 'tone' that area.

Keep smiling and have fun with it!!  Tara

QUESTION: what are flyes and are saying that breast are the first thing to go? also is it possible to lose 65 pounds by July 1

Answer
Hello again Tasha,

Flyes are a type of exercise - you lay on your back on a flat bench with your feet on the floor, neutral back and stomach in.  Holding weights in your hands straight up so that your hands are in line with your nipple line, and then take your arms straight out to the sides (not allowing your back to arch!)and then bring them back to the start position.  Make sure that your arms do not go below shoulder level, and that you keep your elbows soft.  Do about 3 sets of 12-15 repetitions using a weight that gets tough about the 12th rep!!  But start light and test yourself - never try the heaviest first!

In regards to the breasts, in most women it tends to be the first area to lose weight from.  They are glandular, not muscular so there is not a great deal we can do without surgery.

65 pounds by July?  Well, it is advised to aim to lose 0.5kgs (about 1.1 pounds) a week for best weight loss.  This is due to the body containing hormones called leptins which regulate the fat content of the blood.  It likes to keep a particular level and when it senses imbalance it will change accordingly - storing or releasing fat.  Thing is, if you don't eat enough fat (or food in general), they will think you are starving and start to store fat which is not what you want.  To gradually reduce tricks them and you will keep the weight off easier.

Saying that though, we are talking 'fat' though, so if you have water retension and toxic build up, if you start eating properly (try an elimination diet) limiting toxicity (ie caffeine, alcohol, additives, preservatives, sugar, etc)then you may find you drop a lot of 'size/weight' quickly.  But in general with fat, it is very advisable to still eat a healthy diet including all the good fats.

Any further questions, you know where I am!!
