Factor V Leiden & Pregnancy Concerns: Seeking Expert Medical Advice
QuestionI am 29 with no children 4 miscarriages and 1 stillborn. I am currently pregnant but I'm not sure if my OBGYN is being as aggrasive as I think he should be. My last MP was March 1st but I usally don't ovulate until the 20th day or so. All I have done so far is taken blood work The 6th and 8th of April, the HCG came back at 133 on the 6th and 257 on the 8th. My OB does not want to do anything else until I take another test on 15th to see what my HCG is then. What I'm so concerned about is should I have already started blood thinners? And is it maybe time to find a new OB?
AnswerEven with factor V leiden, I would not start obstetricial visits until you are 8 weeks from the first day of your last period (around April 26). It appears that your HCG values are rising, but the values are very low at this point. There is no need to start Heparin or Levonox at this time, and I am not sure that you necesarily need blood thinners. I would just wait for your next visit and discuss it with your obstetrician. Good Luck.
