AnswerHello Glenda. Your diagnosis indicates that you have a tendency to develop clots. There is some evidence that this condition may also cause the loss of pregnancy in the first 12 weeks. This is a genetic defect that you have inherited from your parents. You will pass on the tendency to your children, but if your partner does not carry the same defect, it may never cause your children any problem. You are at increased risk for blood clots during your pregnancy- like clots in the deep viens of your legs. You must be very aware of any pain, swelling or tenderness in the calves of your legs and see your dr. IMMEDIATELY should that develop.Look this condition up on the internet- it will give you lots of info. Make it a habit to lie down at least twice a day with your ankles above your heart level and flex your ankles up and down to prevent pooling of blood in your legs. When standing for long periods, learn to do pelvic tilts- it helps to "milk" pooled blood out of your legs and back into your torso. Hope that helps- get back to me if you have any further questions- Cheri.
