Impact of Past Abortions on Fertility: A Fertility Expert's Perspective
QuestionHi,
I have had many abortions before (about 7-9) when I was in a bad relationship years ago. I also have carried 2 pregnancies to term, and with healthy children as a result (but they were before the string of abortions). I am now in my early 30's and am in a relationship where I would consider trying to have another child in the next few years, but I'm very worried what damage the abortions could have done, and what percentage of fertility may have been decreased from them. I was told that you really can't tell until you go through the pregnancy, and I'm afraid of going through a pregnancy and miscarrying. How much damage does each abortion do to affecting your ability to conceive and carry to term later?
Thanks!

AnswerHI Yazminh,
first of all consider the abortions and if they were done in safe sterile conditions with no problems before, during or after, then you should not have problems having a child. Go see your obgyn and get evaluated and make sure you take all records with you on the abortions so he can make sure everything is fine.
