Birth Control Pills and Miscarriage: Addressing Concerns

 What about birth control pills? Could they cause a miscarriage? It happen to my friend before, that's why I ask.

Hello Michelle. The pill cannot cause a spontaneous abortion- that is the correct term for the loss of a pregnancy before 12 weeks. If your friend lost a pregnancy while on the pill, it would have happened whether or not she was taking the pill. There is just not enough hormone in the pill to cause a spontaneous abortion to happen. Hope that answers your question. Cheri.
