Castor Oil for Labor: Safety & Effectiveness During Pregnancy

I am 40 weeks pregnant, at least 3 cm dilated and 50% effaced.  I would like to take Castor oil to speed things along so I don't loose to many more days of work.  My doctor keeps telling she will induce me but I want to try something a little more nature first.  Is this ok to try, if so how much is recommended and if not what else can I try.

Hello Leann- I am almost sure that I have all ready answered this question, but I will do it again. Unless you are under the care of a midwife, NO to castor oil. All you can do is wait for mother nature to say it is time. Even the castor oil does not always work and there are risks. Cheri.
