Hi I am 37 weeks pregnant and I just wanted to know if you could help me pinpoint the day I got pregnant. My last period was Feb 26 2004. I have normal periods. I had intercourse on March 5, 6, 7, 14, 16, 17. I know it is hard to pinpoint a day but if you could just give me your expert opinion I would really appreciate it.

If you have a normal 28 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. You can ONLY become pregnant if you have unprotected sex on cycle day #13, 14, 15, 16, or 17. If your last period started on February 26, you would have ovulated on March 11 and could only have conceived if you had sex on March 10,11,12,13, or 14. You should be due on December 5. Good Luck.

The doctors told me my due date was Dec 2, another question I had was how long can sperm stay alive in you and could I have had sex before ovulation, like on the 6,7,8 of March and the semen stay alive and fertilize an egg when I ovulated on March 10. Also there where 29 days in February this year. So it would have been 9,10,11,12,13 days I could conceive, if Im correct.

AnswerThere is no difference between a due date of December 2 or December 5. You can deliver two weeks before your due date and two weeks after your due date. Its only an approximation. A sperm can live 12-24 hours after ejaculation so if you have sex a day prior to ovulation, you can become pregnant. An egg can live for up to 48 hours after ovulation. That is why you can become pregnant if you have sex one day prior to ovulation up to two days after ovujlation. If your last period started on February 26 and there were 29 days in February this year, ovulatioin probably occured on March 10 and you could haver conceivbed, as you sai, on March 8,9,11, or 12.
