DHA & ARA in Infant Formula: What Are They?
QuestionI was reading an article about formula and it was saying that DHA and ARA are nutrients found in breast milk and are added to some formula. What does DHA and ARA mean/stand for?
AnswerHello Tia- I'm sorry, I cannot find a reference for these nutrients right now. I understand DHA to be a preservative, not a nutrient and would not be found in breastmilk, so that one is a mystery to me. Perhaps you could tell me more about the article and where it was from. You can be assured that formula of ANY kind will NEVER match all the benefits of breastmilk which contains live white blood cells to help baby combat ANY bacteria and virus that may cross it's path. Hope that helps- Cheri.
