Progesterone Supplements for Fertility: A Patient's Question & Considerations
QuestionHi,
My husband and I are trying to conceive our second child. The problem is I've had 3 misscariages in the past four years. After my last misscariage my ob did the appropriate workup and found that my progesterone was really low. Day 21 it was 3. He put me on Clomid for 2 cycles and I did not get pregnant. If I do become pregnant should I ask him for the progesterone suppositories to help with my progesterone levels. Or is there something else I should ask him for. I am confused, the doctor never told me why he wanted me on Clomid and not on progesterone. I don't know if it is because I am not ovulating or if my luteal phase is to short? Desperate to keep the next pregnancy. Ps. I don't know if this has any revelance but all my pregnancy's have occured during the summer. Husband and I actively try the whole year long only seem to get pregnant during the summer though. Thank you for your time. Chantal
AnswerHI Chantal,
sorry for the delay. Clomid is to help you conceive quicker possibly. Usually the progesterone is some is only given after conception to up the levels then and some before, however this is up to each ob. Ask him he should be willing to give you a good answer. As far as the seasons, that is probably just a coincidence but another good question to ask him.
