Urinary Symptoms: UTI or Early Pregnancy?

Question
I am 18, no children...I just had my period last week and I haven't had sex with my boyfriend since, but the other day during classes I had to urinate on several occasions. I experience burning sensations. I figured UTI but I haven't had any burning sensations since. I still have to urinate alot. I heard this was a symptom of pregnancy. I am on the pill and he also pulls out. Could I be pregnant?

Answer
If you have not missed a period and you are on the pill and have not had sex since your period, you cannot be pregnant. The earliest signs of pregnancy are fatigue, nausea, and breast tenderness. Frequency of urination is NOT a sign of pregnancy. If you have frequency of urination or burning on urination, that may be a sign of a UTI and you should get a urine culture done (even if you no longer are burning). If more than 100,000 colonies of bacteria grow on the culture, it is diagnostic of a UTI. Otherwise, just drink plenty of fluids and don't worry about it.
