29 Weeks Pregnant: Dropping & Bloody Show - What Does It Mean?
Questioni am 18 years old, just one on the way, and my LMP was august 22 2004, i am 29 weeks pregnant and i have dropped already i am scared because last week i lost my mucous plug, is labor on the way or what please help me
AnswerIf you have dropped and you have had a "bloody show", you should be checked to see if there is any cervical dilatation or if the cervix shows signs of shortening. If your cervix is dilated, you may be given a tocolytic agent to prevent preterm labor. It would be better if you do not go into labor before 36 weeks gestational age, since the baby's lungs are not mature yet. Drink plenty of water and, if you notice any contractions at the level of your belly button that occur more than every 10 minutes (from the beginning of one to the beginning of the next one) and each contraction remains hard for more than 45 seconds, call your doctor and get checked. Just because you dropped and have lost your mucus plug does not mean that labor will occur soon. However, be vigilant and aware if it does.
