Secondary Infertility After PCOS & Clomiphene Treatment - Seeking Advice

Question
I am 26 years old, I have one daughter (11 mon) and the first day of my last menstrual period is today. Here is my story. I have PCOS and had to use Clomiphine (100mg) to conceive my daughter 20 months ago. It worked the very first time and we counted our blessings. We decided to start trying again 6 months ago with my gyn's help and clomiphine. We started at 50mg for 2 months then 100mg for 2 and them 150mg and 200mg. No luck. My husband and I are non-smokers and in pretty good shape. I know that there are many factors that go into successful pregnancies and we have both tried to remain relaxed but I am starting to get sad. I have to take a break from the clomiphine because we are at the 6 month point and I am going to call my doctor tomorrow I just wanted to know what other questions should I ask? I know that I didn't ovulate on the 50mg but I was sure I ovulated on the rest and they increased my dosage anyway. Are there other things we can ask about that might help? Also my husband has been checked out too and he has an excellent sperm count and motility. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
It may merely be a question of timing, since all other factors seem to be within normal limits. I would suggest that you keep trying (even while you are off the clomid) and when you start the clomid again, start at the 150mg dosage. Very often clomid works well with PCOS, but you may consider adding some metformin to the regimen. Discuss it with your gynecologist. Good Luck.
