QuestionI went to my 27 week appointment today. The height of my uterus was normal a month ago, but today it measured at 32 weeks! My doctor has ordered an ultrasound next week to see why. What might the ultrasound show, how might it affect the birth, and what are the chances that it's actually nothing at all?
FYI, I'm 28 yrs old, this is my first pregnancy, I'm very short and overweight, and I'm carrying him very low. My weight gain, gestational diabetes test, and all labs have been normal.
AnswerYou may merely be carrying high, or you may have developed too much amniotic fluid, causing you to appear larger than usual. If your sugar is good, it is doubtful that you have developed macrosomia. Just be patient and wait to see what the sonogram shows. As long as the baby is growing adequately and the heratbeat is good, you need not worry.
