QuestionI am 33 years old, I have never been pregnant and the date of my last menstrual cycle was 10/1/05.
I recently had a vaginal ultrasound done and they were unable to see my right ovary. They found 2 bright spots on my uterus and deceided to do an HSG.
I had the HSG done this morning and it was extremly painful. They saw the left tube and it had what looked like a blockage in it. My right tube...they were still unable to find. The dye never shot out to anything on that side.
Is it possible that I only have one tube and never knew it? How much more difficult would it be to get pregnant...assuming the left one get's cleared?
AnswerYou may or may not have a right ovary. If the left tube was blocked and there appears to be no left tube, that presents a problem, because there would be no way for the sperm to reach the egg and you could not become pregnant. You may need surgery to "unblock" the tube. A laparoscopy will show if you do have a right tube and ovary or not.
