Varicose Veins on the Labia: Causes, Symptoms & Treatment
QuestionI am 42 years of age and have no natural children of my own.
Is it normal to have varicose veins on the outer labia? Is there any reason to be worried that they may be anything other than varicose veins?
Is this common among women who have not had children? (I realize that some women experience this during pregnancies).
Is there anything I can do to remove them? Reduce them? Limit them in the future? Does it have anything to do with sexual activity- the frequency or type or level of enjoyment experienced?
AnswerDepending on pressure gradients, you may develop enlarged blood vessels in the skin of your labia. Even women who have not had any pregnancies can develop varicose veins anywhere on the body. If they bother you, consult with your gyn to discuss alternatives of treatment. It may be possible to reduce them but I can't tell without examining you.
