Understanding a Short Luteal Phase: Causes & Fertility Treatment

Question
I am 36, no children and the first day of my last period was April
2.  My cycle is generally 23-24 days and I ovulate on day 13-14.
I began spotting today so expect my period to begin tomorrow.
My Dr. has prescribed Clomid and Metformin for the past 3
months along with IUI and Progesterone (Utrogesten). We had
been trying to concieve for about a year before going with this
plan of action so altogether it's been 15 months.  Should I be on
a progesterone cream rather than the capsules?

Also, my husbands sperm count is normal but the motility is low
with only 2% normal/motile sperm.  He has had blood tests, but
my Dr. deflected my suggestion that he see a urologist.  Should I
insist?

Is there anything else that you would recommend?

Answer
I would continue the Clomid and metformin in addition to the progesterone. I like either the pills or the suppositories, but not the cream. It cannot hurt for your husband to consult a urologist if there is only 2% normal mobile sperm. We have had very excellent success with the use of Clomid and metformin togather. Good Luck.
