QuestionMy husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 2 months now and we intend to continue trying. Now I know a pregnant woman should not be flying, but my friends and I planned a small weekend getaway in August which involves a 5 hours drive to and from, plus a weekend on a motorboat on a lake and outdoor camping. I did not think this was a problem, I would not be jetskiing or anything.. but a friend told me that during the first few months of pregnancy I cannot ride long distances in a car, and even the vibrations of a boat would potentially cause me to miscarry. If I get pregnant now, I would be between 1-4 months pregnant by the time of the vacation. What do you think is safe and not safe in this situation? Thank you
AnswerPlease do not worry. While you are trying to conceive and even during pregnancy, you can take trips, ride on a plane, take long drives in a car, go on a boat, jetski, ski, erc. When you do become pregnant, you can take airplane trips or car rides. However, you should drink lots of water and go to the bathroom at least once an hour. You should walk around every hour as well. There is no restriction against flying throughout the pregnancuy. You can use the motorboat. Vibrations will not cause miscarriage or have any ill effect on the pregnancy or on the fetus. Ifyou have a normal 28 day cycle, ovulation occurs around cycle day #14. You should concentrate on having intercourse on cycle day #13, 14, 15, or 16 each month. Keep trying and good luck.
